I purchased the adapter on impulse when I was walking through Office Depot. I have two parallel printers and it is a pain to keep switching the parallel cables at the back of the pass through on the parallel scanner I have. When I got home I immediately unpacked the device loaded the accompanying software and now have the ability to hot swap either printer. This is great! The only caveat to this, if you have a legacy free computer, you really have no way of installing the printer software, which needs to be loaded first.
I promptly installed both the IBM ProPrinter dot matrix, and HP DeskJet 697C printers on the B.P.C.A., Inc. laptop and then the adapter and everything works just fine. Now I can use either printer with either computer without having to shut down all the time and swap parallel cables.
This is a cheap and simple solution for those of us without a home network wanting to share printers.
