GoBack is a program that I wished I had installed on my computer many times in the past. What is basically does is make a "snapshot" of your hard drive at given moments in time, and stores this information in the program. If you need to use it, GoBack will restore your drive or your files to that given moment in time.

The installation of the program was straightforward and easy. You are asked to reboot your computer. You are also asked to choose between easy install and custom install - the difference being the amount of space on your hard drive you want to dedicate to the program. Because I have a lot of space on my drive, I chose "custom install" and allocated about twice the space of the "easy install".

There are several things GoBack can do:
1. Revert your hard drive to an earlier time. For example, if you are having difficulty booting your system, when you first switch on your computer, GoBack boot screen appears, asking you to press the space bar. When you do this, the program gives you three options to choose from. Because I messed up something, I actually had to use the option of "Revert Drive" to a previous moment in time, and it worked. After I selected the time frame I wanted, the system rebooted.
2. Recovering an overwritten file. If you accidentally overwrite or delete a file, GoBack will retrieve your original file. The instructions for this step are easy to follow and IT WORKS.
3. Recover several files at once. Much like #2, only you can recover more than one file at a time.

The Users Guide and Help Menus are clear and easy to understand. There is a short movie on the main menu, which helped me to understand how the program works. There are also three tutorials in the Users Manual, which guide you through the different processes. You only need to be brave enough to delete some of your files and trust that GoBack will recover them. (I was and it did.)

Emphasized many times in the Manual - GOBACK DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE NEED TO MAKE REGULAR BACK-UPS. GoBack is much like having a back up, it is terrific to have, but you hope you never have to use it (like your medical insurance).
