Quarterdeck Utility Pack consists of three programs: Clean Sleep, Crash Defender, and Virus Sweep.

Clean Sweep: This utility is an uninstaller that I found to work effectively and much faster than uninstaller I previously had on my computer. It backs up the files deleted to provide a safe removal of files and or programs. It can be set to do this automatically or it can be done manually. It can be used to remove Internet cookies and other types of space eating files to keep your computer working at top speed. It is a one button click of the mouse to set the program in motion.

Virus Sweep: This is an excellent antivirus program that seeks out just about any virus that may infiltrate your system. The program detects and kills viruses before they can infect and damage your system. I do a great deal of downloading from the Internet and feel it is very important to have an excellent antivirus program. I also highly recommend that anyone that uses the Internet and downloads from the same, have an antivirus program on their computer. I found the program to work much faster than the previous antivirus program I previously had on the computer. The program also gives you notice to update the program with the latest updates against new viruses that are constantly discovered. You can update the program with no charge for a period of one year.

Crash Defender: This is a program that protects your computer from crashing while you are working. This protects you from a crash while working and losing all your data. Previous to installing the program when a warning notice was given that "the program performed an illegal operation," and that it would be shut down. When this occurred I was shut down and I lost all my data. When this occurred since the installation of this program, my computer did not shut down and I was able to continue working. Crash defender provides information about the source of the problem and its prognosis. A simple click on the fix button puts the program to work fixing the application.

There is a bonus that comes with this program. Tuneup.Com. You are automatically notified of Microsoft updates that can be downloaded to keep your system working at top efficiency. You are given this program free of charge for a period of one year.

Technical support is available on line at no charge. If you wish to talk to a tech support representative, it is free for 90 days. It is a toll call, not an 800 number. I found the manual and readme files of this program excellent and easy to follow.

I have found the program to be excellent value. It sells for $59.00. Some stores have a $10.00 rebate on this software. I found this program to be an excellent one that I would highly recommend to any of BPCA members. Quaterdeck has now been taken over by Symntec, but they still support the software.
