This program is a user friendly course on, almost, everything a beginner would want and/or need to know about using Windows 98. It also is a great reference library for the more experienced computer users.
There are too many features contained in it to list them all but I will mention some of them to give you an idea of what the program can help you understand and do. It contains 8 major categories with as many as 85 sub-titles within many of them.
Installation was as easy as can be. You need the disc to run the program. It is self-starting, so no icon is created.
It explains, in easy terms to understand, all the basic directions for using hardware and software. Features including how to access the Internet (the old and new faster ways). It shows how to use Icons, scroll bars, task bars (changing, moving and customizing), window within Windows, how to click and drag, highlighting, shortcuts, dialogue boxes and the like. It explains and shows how to use ”Channels”: how to turn on and shut down the computer properly. The help feature was especially easy to use and understand.
In addition it explains the meaning and use of Text boxes, Drop Down boxes, Find, Run, Add/Remove, Screen Savers and the use of Ctrl/Alt/Del keys. It shows how to use managing files and folders and switching between windows.
There are many more interesting subjects covered in this tutorial but it suffices to say that it is the best instructional course I have come across. It allows the ”pupil” to interact with the computer to practice the lessons being taught over and over again. As such it is far superior to the video instructional tapes that have to be rewound to repeat instruction and especially in that you don't need a video player and TV set next to the computer to while you are learning. You can stop at any part of the lessons, repeat them, start over or skip them.
I highly recommend this program for all beginners and as a refresher course for the rest of us who may have forgotten some of the many features that Windows98 contains.
